On this page I'll describe each member of my family. Here's an example of a format I might use.

Mom

This is my mom, who was born in Virginia. She graduated from Old Dominion University. She currently works with people with mental retardation, which I admire her for.
In her spare time, Mom likes to read, dance, listen to Jimmy Buffet, attend concerts, and bargain shop.

Bob

This is Bob, my stepdad. He currently is a sociology professor in Nashville and at Austin Peay. He likes to walk, watch football, go to concerts, attend UT football games, and make me listen to Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al."

My Students

Here are some of my students. They are forms 1 and 2 at Grenada Boys Secondary School and Westmoreland Secondary School. That is equivalent to 8th and 9th grades in the U.S. I enjoy very much teaching them and pray that the next time they see my face is not after they have contracted HIV/AIDS or wound up in prison.

Other Relatives

Grandma and Grandpa Baxa have been married for as long as I can remember. Grandma was a history teacher for years at St. Bernadette's. She now stays active by looking out for Grandpa, talking, and her third love- shopping for us. I've always admired Grandma for her strength, outlook towards life, and positive attitude. I'd be honored to be half as strong as her one day. Grandpa worked at the Pentagon for years, although I was never sure exactly what it was he did. In addition to Daddy, Bob, and Donnie, Grandpa instilled early in me the proper values respectable men should have and has had a huge impact on my values. I've always admired him because he was disciplined, principled, caring, and loving.

Susan, Ed, Ted, and Elizabeth Baxa: Aunt Susan currently has her hands full with looking after her family and what a task that is!!! I've always enjoyed spending time with Aunt Susan because she is very friendly and warm. Uncle Ed is a busy lawyer who enjoys the Redskins, as do most of the rest of us. I enjoy talking with Ed, especially on controversial issues. Tall Ted is so tall I'm not sure what that's like. He enjoys many sports, particularly basketball. Elizabeth is a dynamic and energetic young lady with many talents. I'm still impressed about the Nutcracker role. Watching you all grow up has been interesting and a pleasure.

Jay, Phil, Emily, and Katie Baxa are another extension of our family. Jay also has her hands full with Emily and Katie, and her biggest baby, Phil. Jay currently works as a librarian, disciplinarian, educator, and being a loving mom. Phil practices law and the occassional marathon when he is in the mood. Emily is in her first year of college and very busy. Katie has just entered middle school and is trekking along with the usual challenges that entails.

Mara recently returned from teaching English in Japan (TEIJ). I am personally glad she left around the same time I did so I wouldn't be the only one going away. Poor Mom, what a trooper. Back to Mara. I truly feel very close to Mara and am thankful for the closeness we've always shared. Biologically, you may have been my sister but you are so much more than that to me.

Danica is my sister and a very neat woman. I am so happy for you and I can't believe you made it before me. I'm very proud of you for working so hard and the incredible woman you've become. Danica is my sister and a really neat person. She is currently working on her Master's at Austin Peay in Tennessee. She loves to travel and shopping.

Daddy: This is my Daddy, the man who I've always looked to for many answers, the man who truly changed my life by allowing me to come and live with him, and attend an inner city high school in Nashville that has led me to where I am today. While he may no longer be physically strong, he is still one of the strongest men in my life. Thank you.

Stathis, Mary Ellen, and T.J.: Mary Ellen, I love the pasta salad and really could go for some now.

A.J. and John: These are my godparents and really neat people.
